Testify Tuesday

It's Testify Tuesday! How or where has God wowed you lately? We want to know.

My Testify Tuesday comment for today is what I experienced in our worship service on Sunday morning. Holy Spirit, You were there and sensed deeply within me. There was such a heaviness of your presence and it could be seen upon the faces and heard within the prayers being raised. I'm looking forward to seeing You draw more unto yourself this Sunday. It was wonderful. I am anticipating your works just like Isaiah 43:19
Behold, I will do something new,
Now it will spring forth;
Will you not be aware of it?
I will even make a roadway inthe wilderness,
Rivers in the desert.

I decided to post a comment from last Tuesday. Let me remind you that last Tuesday was not Testify Tuesday, but I was so blessed by the excitement Mitzi had in anticipating it and her willingness to testify to all of you what God had shown her that week that I asked her if I could use her "testimony" to bless you all today, and she kindly said yes.

I was so hoping today was testify Tuesday. I have been about to burst with excitment in the awe I felt this weekend. We went to pick apples and a pumpkin this weekend- that is where my AWESOME GOD opened my eyes. The pumpkins sitting there in the dirt were all different shapes, sizes, shades of orange and some had a curly stem while others were straight-just like us. All of the pumpkins were from a very small seed and were planted to grow..be picked..and let a someone enjoy their beauty. As we were ready to pay for our pumpkin(that took a while to pick)I was thinking of how each one of the families in line would take it home, carve it with a smile, hollow it out and put a light in it. WOW...dont you think that is what God wants for us........Seed, Picked, Carved with a smile, Hollowed out, and put a light for all to see. And even our trash(seeds pulled out)can be used for good. It will grow another pumpkin for someone else next year. What a GOD moment. I can only thank him for the blessings he gives us everyday and in the smallest thing how he has planned it. Thank you God for the little things as well as those big things that you are in control of. Also thank you Amy for sharing blog and helping me to see God in the small things too. Mitzi

Now, it's your turn - tell us how great He is!

  1. I love working in our Youth department. There are times though that you wonder if they are 'getting it'. The past few weeks have been that way. In Sunday School we've been going through a study called Engage: Impacting a Hostile World, centered around 1 John 2:15-17.

This past Sunday I opened up with a few thoughts about our trust in God. I said that our goal is to have such a trust in God that we no longer want God’s blessings, but only want God Himself.

One of the middle school boys completely floored me with something he was telling the other kids in his group.

He said that he has an aunt that he really doesn't like all that much. He doesn't like spending time with her, BUT, he loves the presents that he gets from her at Christmas. She gives him really amazing presents every year. So he spends just enough time with her so that he can get that awesome gift.

He said, that's how we treat God sometimes. We want what He can give us, or do for us, but we really don't want to spend much time with Him, unless there is something in it for us.

Those thoughts came from an 8th grade boy! When I hear things like that I really think that as adults we really make things a lot harder than they should be to follow after Christ.

God has shown me that trust and faith in Him really are so simple that even an middle school boy 'gets it.' That whether we realize it or not, there are people who are watching and listening.

It might be our kids who are watching, people at church, or readers of our blogs. We may not get the thank you's from our kids, or encouragement from people we go to church with, or even comments on our posts that we pour our hearts into, but.... people are watching.

God is asking me this question today - What am I showing them? Am I pointing them to Christ? If the answer to that question is yes, then I simply need to have that same trust and faith the middle school boy has, and just be obedient.

On a side note, I absolutely love your blog, and even though I am not a woman, I hope that doesn't disqualify me from commenting! Hope you have a blessed day!

    We serve an amazing God!

  2. God wowed me last Friday night.

I was talking to a guest at Gospel Mission’s marriage conference and he asked if I knew one of his co-workers, which I did. He used to be a co-worker with me for several years. He went on to tell me that I made a huge impact in his life just by planting a little seed and living a life as a good example. Not only was that seed planted but now he is out planting seed for Jesus and the guest at the conference was one of them that was growing.

That was God reassuring me that there is good work being done.

  3. A few weeks ago, I was having a rough time. I felt like everyone around me was attacking me or rather us (my friend, Celia and myself). You see my friend and I do so much work for charity. You name the charity and we have probably had a yard sale or two, made some craft for sale for a silent auction or something else that has blessed our hearts so much. We had been trying to accomplish some tasks over those weeks and having a very difficult time with others.

Anyway, at the same time my little banny hen (yes, for those of you who don’t know I have some chickens) was so determined to set an egg she had layed that each and every time I tried to take the egg from her she would peck and squak at me. I just decided to let her have the egg (after all it was just one egg) and it probably wouldn’t hatch anyway. I had watched her for weeks now, on one side of the hen box and then the other (eggs must be rolled around so that the embryo doesn’t stick to the inside of the shell). I was so worried about her that I would take food and water to the hen box within her reach. She was so diligent and her mate would sit on the roost above her as the great protector.

When I decided 21 days had passed (the normal hatching period) I felt compelled to remove the egg from beneath her. I was so very sad about taking her egg from her but I thought if I don’t she will starve. I just didn’t have the heart to do it and so I waited a few more days. I got up the courage to take it away from her and went to the coop and there the little thing was……peep, peep, peep! Wow is that a truly amazing miracle.

In that moment, I realized a few things about how really great God is. God is like the little hen covering us and pecking at our enemy that tries to steal us away from him. God is like the daddy rooster that is perched above us to protect us from any threats that come our way. God also revealed to me how wonderful the creatures are that he created. The hen knew she was going to hatch that baby but I was sure from the start it wasn’t going to hatch. Isn’t that just like us, we all assume that we are not going to get our prayers answered because we have to wait but God revealed to me that if we are determined to follow His lead and just sit still, be patient and wait for His miracle that our egg will hatch too in His time!

  4. Julia. WOW. How beautiful. I love that story. My daughter adores chickens, I am excited to share this story with her, I'm sure she will relate, and appreciate it. I'm just in awe of your testimony.

  6. I have to share this story, it didnt happen to me, but my sister. She is a college student, at Murray. Shes like most students, working hard to make money to go to school, buy books, eat, etc. etc. She is a very hard worker, and very diligently in her efforts to spend and save wisely. She applied for every scholarship possible, and every grant she could. They stopped with those the first month of school. She didnt make quite enough from that for everything. She didnt really want to go on a payment plan for tuition, or her dorm, but, she had to. She went today to pay the last of her tuition, and they told her she had already paid, that they (Murray) actually owed her! she had over paid! In disbelief she asked them to dig, because she had the last payment in her hands to deliver to them. they found a scholarship had been granted to her, 2 months later than normal. They had her double check in another office, and the same results. God provided for her, and did the impossible for my sister. :) I'm floating around in awe of God and His glorious ways of taking care of His loves. :)
