Jesus Loves Me This I Know??

Today, we're gonna do something a little different. Let’s take a trip back to our younger days and sing a precious little song that was written by Anna Warner. Sing along with me for a minute:

Jesus loves me this I know
For the Bible tells me so
Little ones to Him belong
They are weak, but He is strong

Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
Yes, Jesus loves me
The Bible tells me so

In case you were wondering, yes, everyone around you heard that and they all think you’re crazy, but that’s ok. Welcome to my little club!

We tend think of “Jesus Loves Me” as a little kid’s song, something sang in the nursery or at Bible School. Every time I think of it, I think of Mrs. Lela Yahr a precious woman, who was instrumental in my faith. As I sing it, I can smell the scent of Juicy Fruit gum that she always had to give us kids. Seriously though, I think these words can be very profound when you think about what they say.

Jesus loves me this I know, for the Bible tells me so.

Do you really believe that? If you do, prove it to me. If “the Bible tells you so”, I challenge you today to dig up a verse that proves it. Don’t take the obvious road and pick John 3:16, although it is a wonderful scripture, but dig up something special where you can feel Him speaking to your heart.

I got my shovel out and did some digging for myself and I would love to share with you one verse that proves He loves me.

The Lord appeared to him from afar, saying, “I have loved you with an
everlasting love; therefore I have drawn you with lovingkindness.”
Jeremiah 31:3

You know what I noticed? “I have loved” He loved me before I ever considered loving Him back. Before I even knew what love was, He was already loving me. That stirs my heart to praise!

Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
Yes, Jesus loves me!
The Bible tells me so!

I pray this song gets “stuck in your head” today and takes on new meaning and that through the scripture you uncover, a part of your heart is forever changed.

Once you get done digging – post a comment to share with the rest of us. His word never returns void. If you have never posted, don’t worry, it won’t bite. If you don’t have one of the “accounts” it asks for, just pick the option of “Anonymous” and you can add it that way. Feel free to type your name at the end of your post, or if you would rather remain anonymous, that’s ok too. Now, if this whole “posting a comment” thing is too complicated, you can email your nugget of truth to me at beyondsundaymornings@gmail.com.

Have a blessed day – By the way, did I just hear you humming a familiar tune?

  1. 'He will cover you with his feathers. He will shelter you with his wings. His faithful promises are your armor and protection.'
    Psalm 91:4 (NLT)

He spoke to me through this verse for the first time 10 years ago and continues to speak to me today!

I found this verse in a Chicken Soup book at the lowest point in my life. Our 8 yr old son had been having seizures, and it was discovered that he had a cyst in his brain. My precious son!!! My only child. Why? What was going to happen? Many q's were running through my mind. When I read this verse, I was touched beyond words, deep down!!! I wrote it on an index card and hung it on the mirror in our bathroom, (where it still is today!) I began to PRAY it, to BEG God to cover us with His 'feathers', shelter us with His 'wings', and to protect us through His loving, faithful promises. And He did!!

Two years later, our son was off his meds, and living a normal life. He is now 18 yrs old, seizure free for almost 5 years. The cyst is still there, but hasn't changed in any way.

He just graduated from high school with a 4.02 GPA, was salutatorian, and has earned enough academic scholarships to pay for ALL his tuition, book, and meals to our local State college, which is close enough for him to commute to. Isn't God GOOD??!!

In 2007, this verse saw me through a terrifying surgery. I had never been put to sleep or cut on and I was SCARED, until I began to PRAY this verse once again. I wrote it on an index card and carried it to the hospital with me. As I was wheeled to the operating room, I kept repeating "Cover me with Your feathers, cover me with Your feathers.." and once again, He did!! I made it through the surgery with a breeze (a Heavenly One!!) and recovered in record time!!!! God is STILL GOD!!!

And, even still, I pray this verse each time our son leaves to go to work, out with friends, to play ball, etc. That God will cover him and protect him and bring him home safely. God is GOOD, ALL the time!

So this is my 'love' verse. I feel His love through these words each and every time, as I pray them over my family and friends.
He covers us and protects us with His EVERLASTING, UNENDING, UNCHANGING promises!

My God bless you for this blog, the friend that sent me the link, and each one who reads it.

  2. I recently dug into this verse last week, and have spent a lot of time reading various translations of it. The MSG translation really spoke to me, as I have been searching out what God is calling me to, He answered several months of prayer with this verse today.

Ephesians 3:7-8 (The Message)This is my life work: helping people understand and respond to this Message. It came as a sheer gift to me, a real surprise, God handling all the details. When it came to presenting the Message to people who had no background in God’s way, I was the least qualified of any of the available Christians. God saw to it that I was equipped, but you can be sure that it had nothing to do with my natural abilities.

  3. This verse really helped me get through things when I was expecting my son, Psalms 137:3,"Children are a gift from the Lord, they are a real blessing." I see that verse come true every single day since then. I love my kids so much and thank God every day for choosing me to mother them. They mean the world to me!-April

  4. After I read this I fully intended on "doing some digging" but I got distracted. In the middle of the night during a recent storm, I woke up with this question on my mind. I didn't find a particular verse. I just thought about weddings. Do you remember the overwhelming love you felt as you promised until death do you part? It's been ten years for me, but I still have that deep love for my husband. How much more does Jesus love us as his bride?-Jan
