Where Are You?

Where Are You?

A question God asked of Adam and Eve as they hid from them in the garden after they sinned.  Our guest speaker last night, Pastor Jim Wright, spoke on the questions God asked of Adam and Eve in Genesis chapter 3, and "Where are you?" was the first question God asked.

God knew the answers to the questions He asked them.

He knew where they were.

He knew what they had done.

He knew they felt shame.

And He knew what this was going to cost them.

Genesis 3:8 -

They heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.

What breaks my heart to read in this verse is they "hid themselves from the presence of the Lord."

Is that true of you, my friend?

Have you hidden yourself from the presence of the Lord?

Oh, I hope not.  Sometimes it happens so illusively we don't even realize we have hidden from the presence of the Lord.  If we don't realize where we are, we can't figure out where we are supposed to be.

Can I tell you a simple truth today, and I tell it to you in love,my sister -

Avoiding Him, no matter what area of your life, is the same as hiding from His presence.

Please don't hide from Him.

He loves you.

He already knows.

He hasn't moved.

He hasn't turned His back on you.

Simply turn your back from Him..........

And look into His face.

"Where are You, My child," He says.   Listen with your heart.  Can you hear Him?

Don't hide from His presence.

Father, Your presence is welcome in my heart, my mind, and my life today.  Whisper those words into my spirit often.  May I hear you asking "Where are you?" and come running to your feet.  You went looking for Adam and Eve in the garden because You wanted to be with them, and I am no different.  You want to be with me.

You want to be with me.

I must ask myself today, "Where AM I?" because sometimes I hide without realizing what I've gotten myself into and if I don't realize where I AM, I can't see where I need to be.

Thank You, God, for simply wanting to be with me.  Thank You for enjoying my presence, may I enjoy Yours.

  1. Amy-- thank you for your words and reminding me that He wants my presence with Him. I know I want Him with me; while forgetting that maybe He wants my company... what an AWESOME AND AWAKENING thought. you are an expression of His Love and I thank you for that. pt
